Cuddly Bunny Pillow

Cuddly Bunny Pillow

bunny meme - ermahgerd kerretsBunnies are some of the cutest and cuddliest animals around. So naturally, I wanted to turn one into a pillow. As always, I tried to keep things as simple as possible, so I worked out a simple rectangular pattern using all single crochets. This way, the pillow will still be comfortable and actually nice to put your head on, and it won’t be too complicated to make.

I added the bunny cuteness with the carrot stitched belly (a little nod to my childhood heroes, the Care Bears), the pink nose and those beady eyes. The eyes are crocheted as well so that they’ll be comfortable to lie on and safe for children. The secret ingredient is the gleam in the eyes, so make them appear shiny and alive.

I hope you enjoy this Bunny Pillow and have many cuddly times with it.

Face & Belly

  • Start by sewing on the eyes. Mine align with the inside corners of my ears and are 10 rows down. I pulled the starting tail through to the middle to fix the location and then used the tail I left to sew in each sc of the last round.
  • Add the gleam.
  • Create the nose. I stitched a triangle and then stitched in parallel moving along the top and coming back to the bottom centre.

Border & tips of the ears

  • Pin your top and bottom together so that they align properly.
  • With white yarn, start at the bottom left foot and single crochet the two parts together all the way up the side and around the top.
  • When you get to the ear, continue single crocheting up the side of the ear. (There will be holes behind the ears which will sew together at the very end.)
  • When you get to the top of the ear, make a row of single crochets across (8), turn
  • 1 sc in next st, sc2tog, 2sc, sc2tog, 1sc (6), turn
  • 1 sc, sc2tog, sc2tog, 1sc (4), turn
  • sc2tog, sc2tog (2), turn
  • sc2tog (1)
  • continue sc down the long side of the ear and single crocheting the two pieces together
  • repeat the above process when you get to the next ear
  • sc the two pieces together all along the long side and around the foot.
  • Start filling your pillow from the bottom, making sure you put enough filling in the feet, too.
  • When it’s all nicely filled, continue single crocheting your 2 sides together all the way around until you arrive where you started.
  • Fasten off and weave in ends.

Now you’re ready to go cuddle with your bunny pillow. I’m looking forward to hearing how yours came out. I think these would look really cute in light blue or yellow as well. Make sure to share your photos on our Facebook page!

Love,
Lo
